I think Sam is a good candidate for moving up but the kid is only 22. I am sure after trying out for Sockeye a number of times older players begin to realize that they aren't going anywhere, especially with one young standout after another breaking out of local high school/college programs.

With so many people wanting to be champions and outsiders coming in all the time, there has to be a decent percentage of players that are stuck where they are. With that in mind, I think it is in their best interest (and Sockeye's) to look forward, not up. They need to focus on developing as a team (not just trying to make Sockeye) for them to compete and I think this sort of focus will improve the team as well as enrich the population of players for Sockeye to chose from.

It sucks not playing for the "A team" but finding your niche is always valuable and I think all players can benefit from this, from the inexperienced all the way up to the very elite.Matchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12050770930016385673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2357292552340999098.post-41014483006002767752008-07-11T13:28:00.000-04:002008-07-11T13:28:00.000-04:00Hey Match,Word is that Seth Crockford is now with ...Hey Match,
Word is that Seth Crockford is now with PoNY (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.disc/browse_thread/thread/a0b5266a61bd54a3/77045bbfcc34f04b?lnk=gst&q=crockford#77045bbfcc34f04b), should help give them a little perspective on Sockeye and add another person who's been to the big show.

Also, I'm not sure your conjecture about Voodoo is legit. They've been very successful as a feeder program and players (such as Sam Harkness) have made the jump. This isn't a Metal/DoG situation, they share a training combine and that determines the selections and the system, although new, seems to be fairly effective. Portraying discontent based on false precedent just doesn't seem to fit here.Handyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365253665726707239noreply@blogger.com
